My main site is now published and available at www.latitude51.ca. As I have mentioned before, I plan to host some projects that I have worked on in the past, and some projets that I have been working on in my spare time. Also I will add a list of resources related to GNSS and GIS applications. Much of the content still needs to be added but the main design is complete. I will continue to add the remaining content over the next several days to week.

I built the website using the pre-packaged starter kit called HTML5 Boilerplate developed by Paul Irish and Divya Manian. Boilerplate provides a framework to build your site and comes ready with Twitter Bootstrap, jQuery, a template file directory, normalize.css as well as several icon groups among other things.

Twitter Bootstrap handles most of the heavy lifting for the site, particularly for handling the navigation bar and mobile compatibility. Bootstrap also has an extensive grid system to make organizeing content on the website quite easy.

Below are several tutorials and sites I found helpful in my development:

  • Start Bootstrap - Provides free page templates
  • Aptana - Integrated Development Environment for web development including HTML and javascript
  • Glyphicons - High quality icons for websites
